Mr. Gatt has worked within the insurance industry for over forty years and has only recently retired as CEO for Atlas Insurance PCC Limited. In 2000, he became sales director for Atlas Insurance Agency Ltd, the then agents for AXA Insurance plc. When the company became a fully-fledged Maltese insurance company in 2004, he was appointed Managing Director and saw it through its conversion to a Protected Cell Company in 2006, expanding services into international business. He also led the successful mergers of three group subsidiary companies with Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors Ltd., Assikura Insurance Brokers Ltd. and Strategic Risk Solutions Insurance Management Services Europe PCC Ltd.

Mr. Said’s banking career spans over fifty years, beginning in 1968, when he joined Barclays Bank, which became Mid-Med Bank in 1975. He served in all areas of the bank, gaining extensive experience within the sector while occupying various senior positions until his departure in 1985 to take up a post in the private sector. Here banking experience was useful as he became involved in a number of new business ventures and initiatives. He returned to the banking sector in 1998 to take up his current appointment within Lombard Bank. In 2007, he was also appointed Chairman of MaltaPost plc and currently also serves as non-executive director on the boards of a number of other companies.
Managing Director of GasanMamo Insurance Ltd.
Mr. Mamo graduated in Business Management in the US over thirty years ago and has worked within the insurance industry ever since. He played an instrumental role in the development of Galdes & Mamo Ltd in his position as a director, ensuring that he witnessed the local insurance industry evolve first-hand. Today Mr. Mamo is Managing Director of GasanMamo Insurance Limited and a Non-Executive Director on several boards in companies operating in diverse industries. Mr. Mamo is also a former President of the Malta Insurance Association, Council member of The Malta Chamber of Commerce and a Council member of Malta Insurance Managers Association.
Chief Executive Officer of APS Bank p.l.c.
Mr. Cassar’s professional career began at a big 4 firm in 1987, followed by a 5-year stint in bank regulation and supervision at the Bank of England and US Federal Reserve Board. Since 1996 he has held successively senior executive positions in banking and financial services, as General Manager at Lombard Bank Malta p.l.c. and First Executive Vice President and CFO at FIMBank p.l.c. He has also served as a board member of the Malta Bankers’ Association for a number of years, including as Deputy Chairman and Chairman, leading to a seat on the main board of the European Banking Federation (EBF). Mr. Cassar is presently the CEO of APS Bank p.l.c. He is a CPA, a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and holds an MBA in Bank Financial Management from the University of Wales and Manchester Business School.
Consultant and Non-Executive Director
Mr. Kevin Valenzia is a chartered accountant, who spent over thirty years as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the last eight of which as managing partner. He is well known within the business community and was instrumental in helping develop Malta’s financial services industry. Among several other appointments, he is a past President of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners, past Chairman of the Financial Services Consultative Council and one of the first Governors of Finance Malta. He has also advised successive Governments on the continued development of Malta’s financial services sector. Mr.Valenzia currently sits on the board of a number of companies as a non-executive director and also acts as a consultant to a few other Maltese companies.
Independent Actuary
Mr. Ioannou holds a degree in Actuarial Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science and has been a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK since 2000. He has a unique combination of insurance, reinsurance and investment banking experience, developed over 28 years of working for a wide range of global corporations such as Prudential Plc, Swiss Re, Unum, Lehman Brothers and BNP Paribas. Ioannis spent most of his career in London but has also travelled expensively for work in Europe, the US, Canada, Australia and Asia. His last permanent role was Director of Capital Management at Prudential Plc and since 2018 he has been consulting insurance companies in the UK and Asia on balance sheet optimisation solutions and M&A initiatives.
Mr. Zammit is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants. His career spans more than 25 years, having occupied various key positions within the area of accountancy, the most recent being Chief Financial Officer at GO p.lc. and Chief Executive Officer of GlobalCapital p.lc. before that. He gained further experience working within the accounting and investment divisions of a hedge fund group in the US as well as with a number of reputable audit and accountancy firms in Malta.
Mr Micallef is the Chief Operations Officer for IVALIFE. He is a graduate in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Malta and has been working in the local financial services sector for more than 25 years. He first gained experience working with the Maltese financial regulator followed by extensive stints at various life insurance, pensions and more recently banking operations. He has held numerous senior management roles in both IT and operations within the institutions he worked, adding more experience and expertise to his portfolio. His main area of interest is the simplification and automation of complex financial operations and bringing them closer to the customers which these institutions serve.
Mr Fenech is the Chief Underwriting Officer for IVALIFE. He joins IVALIFE after 23 years at HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Ltd., where he held various roles in underwriting and claims, most recently as Head of Underwriting and Claims. Prior to that he spent 15 years with HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. (formerly Mid-Med Bank p.l.c.). He is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII, UK) holding an ACII (Advanced Diploma in Insurance). Mr Fenech brings with him both a wide and deep knowledge of the industry, in particular skills in negotiation, underwriting and claims handling, customer service, sales, training and reinsurance.
